Squad Events
In the squad events, dancers perform their own choreography. Each squad has their own allocated time slot to perform their routine. Please see below guidelines for entering squad events

The age categories for squad events are
5 years & under
7 years & under
9 years & under
11 years & under
13 years & under
15 years & under
17 years & under
18 years & over
Parents

The age category for the squad is determined by the oldest member of the team. Proof of age may be required.

Any dancer that competes in the “Additional Needs” solo events will be permitted to dance down one age group in the squad events at the same competition day. For example, a 10 year old additional needs competitor would be permitted to compete in the 9 years & under squad category.

The music duration must not exceed 3 minutes.

If there are a sufficient number of entries in a squad event, the organiser may choose to split the event into sub-categories based on the number of dancers in each squad.

The minimum number required for squads is 6 dancers. This may drop to 4/5 should last minute illness or injury arise.

All choreography and music should be appropriate for the age of the squad and the audience.

Choreography not permitted:-
* Stunts/Lifts
* Tumbling
* Gymnastic manoeuvres where both feet are raised above the height of the head (i.e. cartwheels, walkovers etc)

No props or equipment are permitted in any competition category.

When there are 7 or less entries in a squad section, this will be danced as a final and each squad will be placed. When there are 8 or more entries in a squad section, a recall round will be added before the judges decide their placings.

The winning squad will be presented with a cup and all members of squads placed 1st, 2nd & 3rd will receive a prize.

The adjudicators decision will be final

Qualified dance teachers are permitted to take part in the squad event however only those that are 35 years and over please in the PARENTS squad

The adjudicators use a squad guidance sheet to assist them when marking the squad section. This document is not collected from the adjudicators therefore the notes they make aren’t available for the public to view afterwards. However it is a useful tool for both the teachers to refer to when choreographing routines and for the adjudicators to use on the competition day. Please see below points included on the sheet
